Hands-on training sessions to help you leverage the power of PolyWorks

Taking a training session is the best way for you to get the most out of your investment. We offer hands-on classroom and private training sessions for your PolyWorks solutions.

Classroom Training

A ready-to-learn classroom setting where you’ll gain practical skills that can be applied as soon as you return to work. Taught by certified PolyWorks instructors, a classroom training session is an excellent way to receive hands-on instruction, interact with your peers, and gain the skills that matter. In a classroom training session:

  • The number of participants is limited to eight
  • Computers and training material are provided
  • The training content is designed for a classroom and cannot be customized

Using your two complimentary classroom seats

Two complimentary seats to attend a Basic classroom training are included with the purchase of a new PolyWorks|Inspector Premium, Standard or Probing package, or a PolyWorks|Modeler Premium or Standard package. The following conditions apply to this special offer:

  • The two participants must register for the same classroom training session
  • The training session must be scheduled within one year of the purchase date

Additional participants can register for a classroom training session for a minimal fee.

Private Training

If you need onsite Basic training, or if you’d like an advanced training tailored to your specific metrology requirements (onsite or at one of our facilities), then private training is what you are looking for. In a private training:

  • The number of participants is limited to six for PolyWorks|Inspector™ Premium Package
  • The number of participants is limited to four for PolyWorks|Inspector™ Probing Package
  • The number of participants is limited to six for PolyWorks|Modeler™ Premium Package
  • Participants must have their own computers when training is delivered on site
  • PolyWorks training material is provided 

We offer private training sessions only to customers whose licenses are under a valid support/maintenance contract. A minimum lead time of four weeks is required for registration for any particular session.

Available Training Sessions

Basic Training - PolyWorks|Inspector™ Premium Package

Length: Three days

The objective of this training is to enable new PolyWorks users to perform the inspection of parts using the tools from the PolyWorks|Inspector™ Premium and Standard packages. The training covers the key concepts of a typical inspection workflow. Once the training is successfully completed, newly trained users can apply these concepts to perform inspections of their own parts using scanned and/or probed data.

Training outline:

  • Introduce the PolyWorks interface and the inspection workflow
  • Acquire scanned and probed data
  • Create a high-quality polygonal model using the real-time quality meshing technology and feature scanning guidance
  • Align data to the CAD model using surface information as well as feature-based, reference targets, and Datum Reference Frame alignments
  • Create data color maps and other measurement objects; set controls and define tolerances
  • Visualize, report, and share inspection results using snapshots, tables, and formatted reports
  • Repeat an inspection process automatically, without programming, using Play inspection’s autogenerated measurement sequence

Basic Training - PolyWorks|Inspector™ Probing Package

Length: Two days

The objective of this training is to enable new PolyWorks users to perform the inspection of parts using the tools from the PolyWorks|Inspector™ Probing package. The training covers the key concepts of a typical inspection workflow. Once the training is successfully completed, newly trained users can apply these concepts to perform inspections of their own parts, using probed data.

Training outline:

  • Introduce the PolyWorks interface and the inspection workflow
  • Acquire probed data
  • Align data to the CAD model using surface points, feature-based, reference targets, and Datum Reference Frame alignments
  • Create measurement objects and set their controls
  • Visualize, report, and share inspection results using snapshots, tables, and formatted reports
  • Repeat an inspection process automatically, without programming, using Play inspection’s autogenerated measurement sequence

Basic Training - PolyWorks|Modeler™ Premium Package

Length: Three days

The objective of this training is to enable new PolyWorks users to perform the reverse engineering of parts using the tools from the PolyWorks|Modeler™ Premium and Standard packages. Once the training is successfully completed, newly trained users can apply these concepts to reverse engineer their own parts.

Training outline:

  • Introduce the PolyWorks interface and the reverse-engineering workflows
  • Acquire scanned and probed data
  • Create a high-quality polygonal model by using the real-time quality meshing technology
  • Edit the polygonal model for repair and/or reshaping purposes
  • Model prismatic shapes using sketching tools for parametric and associative downstream modeling
  • Model freeform shapes using NURBS surfacing tools for downstream modeling
