InnovMetric is proud to announce that Carl Zeiss (Industrial Metrology Division) has selected PolyWorks as its preferred point cloud software to bundle with the Zeiss EagleEye Navigator sensor system. Under the terms of the agreement, Zeiss will openly market and bundle PolyWorks with the sales of its non-contact metrology systems in Europe. Both partners already enjoy an important market share in the automotive and aeronautic industries in their respective domain.
The EagleEye Navigator is a laser sensor device mounted on Zeiss' Pro® Premium line of 6-axis horizontal-arm measuring machines to quickly and accurately collect thousands of data points of a scanned surface. These point clouds are then used to measure critical geometrical features of stamped and assembly components such as boreholes, edges, and sections. This technology eliminates the time-consuming process of utilizing sphere adapters and the inevitable inaccuracy thereof. The collection of dense point clouds also provides more information on the measured features, such as GD&T analysis and comparison-to-CAD techniques (deviation color map, cross-sections, comparison points, etc.) computed with the PolyWorks software suite. Traditional gauging techniques can also be reproduced directly on the point clouds using PolyWorks soft-gauging tools such as 3D calipers, radius gauges, and flush & gap gauges.
“With the EagleEye Navigator and PolyWorks, our customers can perform a complete SPC inspection of stamped and assembly components in a fraction of the time it takes with the standard CMM approach”, says Stephan Klumpp, Senior Product Manager HAM at Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. “PolyWorks is the de facto point cloud software solution in the automotive industry worldwide. This strategic agreement between our two companies will help to further increase the use of high-density point-cloud-based inspection solutions in quality control departments worldwide”, he continued.
“InnovMetric Software is very proud of today’s announcement with such a respected and leading company as Carl Zeiss”, says Marc Soucy, President of InnovMetric Software Inc. “Over the years, Zeiss and InnovMetric have developed a broad knowledge of the inspection needs of car manufacturers and tier-one suppliers, which has led both companies to agree that there is a great potential for introducing the Zeiss EagleEye & PolyWorks combined solution to customers who presently use standard contact-based measurement techniques”, he concluded.

About InnovMetric Software
Founded in 1994, InnovMetric Software pioneered the market for point cloud inspection and polygonal manufacturing software solutions. InnovMetric is a privately owned company that enjoys an enviable position as the market leader in point cloud processing software in the automotive and aeronautic industries. PolyWorks licenses are at work daily in more than 30 countries, providing unparalleled benefits to users such as BMW, Boeing, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Lockheed Martin, Peugeot, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Toyota, Volkswagen, and more.
PolyWorks, InnovMetric’s flagship product, is the most complete, accurate, and robust 3D point cloud processing software solution on the market. It uses high-density point clouds to measure and control the quality of castings/dies/molds, and to approve manufacturing processes through prototype, first-article, manufactured, and assembled parts inspection. PolyWorks offers a complete toolset for comparing forms and profiles (part-to-part and part-to-CAD), and includes the most complete GD&T analysis capabilities on the market, as well as the widest array of soft gauging tools (linear, radius, flush & gap, thickness, etc.). All quality control tasks can be completely automated and performed by one click of a mouse using PolyWorks’ powerful scripting language. PolyWorks also offers a unique reverse-engineering module that rapidly produces Class A polygonal models and rapid NURBS surfaces that are exportable to any CAD/CAM/CFD/FEA software for demanding manufacturing applications.
