After months of intense software development based on the needs of the manufacturing community, InnovMetric Software is proud to announce that it has just released the version 9 of its leading point cloud processing software PolyWorks®.

One of the major themes of this new development cycle has been to increase the productivity of our customers by redesigning and simplifying interfaces, reducing mouse clicks, improving data file management, and adding more Wizards for new users.

Significant productivity improvements result from the introduction of a new front-end program called the Workspace Manager (WM). This Windows XP-style interface provides a friendly access to all PolyWorks modules and offer a supervised Wizard mode for occasional and new users. The WM also tremendously improves data file management by storing in one project folder the digitized point clouds and the user’s modeling and inspection results. The WM also simplifies the transition between modules by providing intelligent transition wizards, drag & drop mechanisms, and automatic parameter computation.

PolyWorks/Inspector™ Version 9 remains at the forefront of the point cloud inspection world with new features such as:

  • Integration of non-contact and contact-based digitizing hardware within a unique software measurement platform, including real-time scanning, real-time inspection, full hard probing capabilities, and free plug-ins for major brands of laser scanners, articulated arms, and laser trackers
  • IMView, a free module for visualizing measurements in 3D, navigating easily through inspection results, and performing basic measurements
  • EZLayout, to quickly create personalized inspection reports
  • More advanced automation capabilities Hundreds of functional improvements to alignment, GD&T, and gaging techniques

PolyWorks/Modeler™ Version 9 offers major improvements to its rapid surfacing toolbox, including fully automatic surfacing and feature-constrained automatic surfacing. Major improvements include:

  • An automatic curve layout tool that tracks the natural curvature lines within minutes
  • Support for triangular patches and T-junctions for simplifying patch layout definition
  • A rigidity factor for NURBS surface fitting for mimicking a flexible or rigid material
  • Support of symmetry planes Powerful feature-tracking technology for tracking fillet center curves, tangent curves, or theoretical edges curves based on one mouse click
  • Boolean operations

"We all absolutely LOVE the new version here at Berding 3D Scanning. It has all the improvements we wished for and some we had not even thought possible. I don't know how you'll top this release with future ones... it flat out rocks. Thank you!"
